Mission: 

The mission of this role is to develop, manufacture, and validate prototype automotive interior components while ensuring feasibility for serial production. The Automotive Interior Prototyping Specialist acts as a technical expert for trimming, sewing, cutting, lamination, and upholstery processes, supporting product development projects from concept through industrialization.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop sewing patterns and cutting layouts for automotive interior components. 
  • Create optimized material nesting layouts for leather, synthetic leather, fabrics, and other interior materials using specialized nesting software.
  • Assess material quality and identify defects in leather hides and other trim materials.
  • Manufacture, upholster, and laminate prototype components to evaluate product design and production feasibility. 
  • Define and optimize lamination concepts and processes, including press and membrane lamination technologies. 
  • Evaluate manufacturability and technical feasibility based on CAD data and design specifications. 
  • Prepare work instructions and prototype manufacturing documentation. 
  • Operate cutting, splitting, sewing, and upholstery equipment for prototype production.
  • Establish and improve manufacturing processes and workflow standards for interior trim components. 
  • Provide technical expertise regarding lamination methods, adhesive systems, and application processes. 
  • Analyze prototype test results and laboratory findings to support continuous product and process improvement. 
  • Maintain direct communication with customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing plants throughout development projects.

 

For our Automotive Interior Prototyping Specialist, we are looking for:

  • Completed vocational training in automotive upholstery, trimming, interior manufacturing, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Several years of experience in automotive interior prototyping, upholstery, trimming, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in working with leather, synthetic materials, fabrics, foams, and premium interior components.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting, sewing, lamination, upholstery, and prototype manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to assess technical feasibility based on drawings, CAD data, and customer requirements.
  • Team-oriented, quality-focused, and self-motivated professional with good German and English communication skills and willingness to support customer projects.
